Dzisiaj zaczyna się 49 Krakowski Festiwal Filmowy, na którym jestem wolontariuszką. Jakbym siedziała w domu, to bym chyba zgłupiała. Poza tym wolontariusze mogą wejść na seanse za friko. Zawsze jest to ciekawe doświadczenie - zobaczyć funkcjonowanie potężnego festiwalu od kuchni, poznać znanych ludzi i spotkania ludzi, do których w innych okolicznościach nawet bym się nie odezwała. Poza tym w przeciwieństwie do festiwalu Etiuda & Anima jumpreza dla wolontariuszy jest dopiero po festiwalu (chyba jako podziękowanie za wykonaną pracę - samo zapakowanie około 500 torebek to była robota jak w fabryce).

Będzie dobrze.

I haven't been here for awhile. There is total chaos, cause my sister is getting married on June 13, and I'm in the middle of that. I swear I will get married only in registry office without all the stuff and members of my family I don't want to see or I just don't know. From happier things Stanislav Ianevski (that guy who played Viktor Krum in Goblet of fire) had 24th birthday two days ago, May 16. God, he's just six months younger than me.

Obecnie częściej bawię na stronie www.goodreads.com niż na livejournalu. Zostałam nawet moderatorem grupy - mała rzecza, a trochę mnie ucieszyła. Poza tym w sobotę wpadłam do kumpeli w sobotę i dowiedziałam się paru interesujących rzeczy o dawnych znajomych. W końcu wczoraj kupiłam sobie nowego pendrive'a, jako że stary odmówił współpracy.

Dostałam go od znajomej, do której się nie odzywam, a która powinna wiedzieć (znamy się prawie 10 lat), że nie znoszę takich łańcuszków. napisałam jej, że to idiotyzm. Twórcy naszej klasy nazywają się inaczej. Odpisała mi dzisiaj rano, żebym nie była taka mądra, bo to żałosne. Nazwiska twórców naszej klasy można wygooglować w 10 s. Nie trzeba specjalnej mądrości czy inteligencji do tego.

My mother wants me to go to an alergologist to do some tests and for medicines. But there is a problem - I don't feel good after the medicines for alergies and I feel very swollen. I shrink and don't feel like throwing up as soon as I stop taking them. Now more important is going to a dentist in near future because third molar started coming out and I feel that soon they will start hurting. Hay fever is still less painful in my case - I just need a pack of tissues always in my bag or pocket and everything will be alright.

Wczoraj byłam na spotkaniu autorskim z Vladimirem Ballą. Wszystko byłoby dobrze, jakbym wcześniej mogła dostać jego książkę. Poza tym spotkanie przypominało kółko wzajemnej adoracji pracowników naukowych i studentów slawistyki i wiedzy o kulturze (generalnie osób znających słowacki). Jeszcze musiałam trafić na gościa od Festiwalu Etiuda & Anima, którego nie znoszę (byłam wolontariuszką podczas ostatniej edycji Etiudy & Animy i gość zmieniał terminy spotkań dla wolontariuszy - raz mu powiedziałam, że nie będę zmieniać terminów własnych spotkań z dawno niewidzianymi znajomymi zgodnie z jego widzimisię). Wyszłam w połowie spotkania, bo przestało mnie to bawić w którymś momencie.

Recently I feel depressed for most of the time - I don't have a job (I'm trying to find it), my sister is freaking out or complainig all the time, my parents think that whatever I do I do it wrong. I want to hug someone, but mostly I hear just excuses. I'm tired, really tired.

But I've seen Slumdog Millionaire yesterday. It was really nice - great music and songs.

Another visit of my mother

Why do I have to feel like crapp during and after my mother's visits? Digging trenches would be easier and less tiring that those visits. I'm 5 feet 1 inch tall, I weight around 110 punds and I know I have a little bit too much fat on hips and butt. But my mother says that I'm overweight. On the other side everyone else than my mother and my sister says that I look good and healthy. According to the statistics it's me who should be strongly influenced by colour magazines about fashion and with photos of skeleton models. I'm noy going to force myself to loose weight, cause I know it can be dangerous. When I started studying at the university, I lost 10 pounds (around one tenth of my body weight at that time) and I felt bad. I had problems with heart when I was using stairs to get to my apartament on the second floor (ground floor, first floor, second floor) and I had strong twitches of muscles in my calves. So I don't believe in any restrictive diet. More important is keeping stable weight, not constant dieting.

On Thursday I finally met with Mark. Last time we met at the beginning of December after my Master degree thesis exam and just before his 25th birthday. We had a kind of Valentine's meeting. We didn't do that yesterday cause Mark had to be available on weekend. Daughter of his parents' friends supposed to give a birth to her child (but not his) a week ago, but it didn't happen. And her mother has broken leg, sister is in Katowice, brother in Ireland and rest of family is at work. So Mark is only person with driving licence that has a lot of free time. I was so happy and my mother had to destroy that. When I got back to my apartament I sent Mark sms: I had a great time. See you soon. I want to kiss you in more serious way........

Defiance

On Monday I went to a cinema to see Defiance. It was quite good. Of course some facts were changed - Tuvia Bielski spoke fluently Polish and Yiddish; he didn't speak German and Russian well - they were foreign languages for him. Most of Nowogródek (Navahrudak) citizens were Jewish (circa 50%), Polish (circa 25%) or Belarussian (circa 20%). The movie was something different. I didn't care about the reviews or what newspapers were saying about this, cause I know such things can spoil pleasure of watching a movie.

Daniel Craig was good, but sometimes he was forgetting that he's playing a Jew from Belarus and there are moments when he changes accent from Jewish/Slavic to his normal accent (British). I don't have any objections to the way the movie was made.

The Black Icon

Today I finished reading The Black Icon by Mieszko Zagańczyk. It's a story of Callixtus aka Beelzebub, a thief in Constatinople. He catches a trace of the Black Icon of the Fallen Angel and goes on a journey to Cappadocia to find it. He doesn't know that he landed in the middle of the intrigue between aristocrates and magicians. Whole journey will change him into a different man. An alternative history of Byzantine Empire seen by eyes of a thief - a person, who isn't in mainstream of politics. Book very good for intelligent, but not tiring reading.

My parents came for a weekend and now when they left I feel really really bad. They always talk to me in such way that I want to lay down and don't move til I disappear. I feel that according to my parents and my sister I do everything wrong - doesn't matter if it's choosing book to read, clothes to wear, people to meet, events to go or things to eat - each decision I make is wrong. How can I be a confident person when I'm constantly undermined by members of my own family. Nobody tells me anything and than strange things are happening cause I didn't know something. My mother says that compering to other girls I look like a mouse. Maybe I want to look like mouse. I don't want to be Barbie.

Today I decided to go to Massolit Cafe to spend some time with other people. I've got half of the bottle of vodka, but it's a little bit stupid to drink it all just by myself. I'm still looking for job. Now I'm on apprenticeship at real estate website www.krn.pl and try to find something else. I keep reading books to stay sane and sometimes forget about reality.

This are first two books I had read since January 1. Description of the rest I will post later.
Time regained by Marcel Proust. Some volumes of In a seach of lost time I didn't like because of amount of characters in them and description who was visiting who, who wasn't talking to who and so on. I read Time regained rather fast as for such a book. This volume was edited and published 5 years after Marcel Proust's death. The main character summarizes his life while being ill and spending most of his time in sanatoriums. In previous volumes Marcel wants to became an artist - in Time regained he gaines maturity to start real artistic work of his own. He visits the Guermantes family and some memories show up in his head. Marcel Proust wrote great book that - as Frank says to Dwayne in Little Miss Sunshine - almost no one reads. Some books are good when you read them not force to and your teenage years are a little bit away.

The red bull by Mirosław M. Bujko. American bomber B - 29 had to land in Vladivostok cause of technical problems. Soviet authorities try to keep them as long as possible to gain time to copy the famous plane. There are loads of alcohol, beautiful women, spies, engeeners and soviet officer who is responsible for taking care of airmen and for getting all details. Americans have to find the way to get out Soviet Union and back home. Commanding officer of the plane agrees to co-operate with Russians to get his crew out of Vladivostok. Adventure and fascinating story about war bombers - both Russian and American.

Draco and Pansy loved theme parties and made one for their fifth anniversy. This time the idea was just in their style - the pimps and their ladies. Gregory Goyle wasn't happy when Draco made him swear that he will come to the party. He was single for quite a long and working in Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office in the Departament of Magical Law Enforcement, which was rather suprising for his friends and himself. The work was sometimes tidious cause of amount of forms to fill after each case. In such a moments only bright thing that could happen was Ginevra Weasley who was a kind of receptionist, secretary and representative of the office (when it came to contacts with media) in one. He wasn't a gossip type of person, but he had very good hearing. He knew she dated The Boy Who Lived for a few months after the end of war, but they parted for unknown reasons and right now Potter was rather busy with Luna Lovegood. He suspected that at this very moment she was single, but didn't dare to ask.

The evening of the party came faster than he thought. He was standing in the entrance of the room and scanning the crowd. Weasley and Granger were very colourful couple - he was wearing shiny silver suit and black polo neck under that and she had only dark red bra, tongs and short skirt. Potter was busy with Loony in see-through navy blue dress. Gregory was pull out of his thoughts by a strong female voice he knew very well.

"Ypu're blocking the entrance. Would you move in or outside?" He turned around and saw petite Ginny Weasley. Merlin she looked better than all the rest. Comparing to other girls/woman in the room who were nearly naked she was dressed really modest - bottle green skirt ending just below the knee and same colour jacket. Under that she put white shirt through which he was able to see her green bra.

"I thought that the theme is "pimps and their ladie". You're suposed to be wearing less and be with someone."

"I'm a single luxurious lady. And I thought you would be wearing a string vest and bottoms of tracking suit. What happened?" She smiled at him touching his chest in black shirt. "But you look good in totally black stuff."

"Thank you." He lowered to kiss her hand. Than he offered her his arm. "Can I be your bodyguard? Single luxurious lady can't go around without one." Her laughter was pearly. They entered the room where the party was starting to be at its nearly full swing. Pansy was more thinker than Draco when it came to giving people right places at the parties and Greg and Ginny had seats by the same table. Champagne tasted good and after few glasses and few tries they learn how to move together to the music. Greg with his big frame of 6 ft 3 inches was making attempts not to hurt Ginny's arms, legs, feet or other part of her body. Finally after few dances they decided to take a break. They had a nice conversation about work, life and other things. It appeared that she dated few guys after Potter, but they all wanted to date her because she was ex-girlfriend of the Boy Who Lived. Now she was single and living alone in small flat. He told her after the was he was seeing few girls, but they saw only that darker side of him - as he was son of a Death Eater and chose the light. Later they danced to some slower music and Ginny made a proposition to move to her flat and make their own party without viewers.

On New Year's Eve I went to a cinema, cause I had an invitation that I had to use til the end of year 2008. I went to see movie called Little Moscow. Very nice movie and not completely melodrama - for sure not in an American way.

It's year 1967. Jura, young pilot and might-have-been cosmonaut, comes to Legnica, called Little Moscow - because of location of the biggest garrison of Soviet army in Eastern Europe. He is accompanied by beutiful young wife, Wiera. Fascinated by Polish poetry and music she win singing "contest of friendship", performing in great way and partly in Polish Ewa Demarczyk's "Grande Valse Brillante" . Than she meets Polish officer and musician – Michał. She defends against the feeling towards him. Forbidden love between Russian and Pole has to progress in secret...

Virtous Package - finale

Yesterday last packages from warehouse I was in went to the families. Those people were so happy , when they were unpacking the stuff. They were excited and saying that hey didn't think that there are still good people in the world. I'm very glad that I could help them have very nice Christmas. One company made packages for three different families and they brought all of them (packages) to the warehouse I was in.

Some statistics for whole Poland:
2270 volunteers
191 warehouses for packages
4812 families from all over Poland (33 684 people) got help for Christmas
3 609 100 PLN - total worth of packages
52 932 presenters
28 872 boxes with help went to the families (average package = 6 boxes)
Packages weighted over 430 tons (433 080 kg - average package = 15 kg)
Volunteers made 38 590 km to help packages reach their destinations (average distance for one vounteer = 17 km)

I think I will be volunteer of Virtous Package next year.

First day of Virtous Package finale was a little bit tiring, but families which got packages were so happy. Some packages were so big and heavy that we had problems with packing them to the car, but husband of one volunteer came with delivery van and helped us. We're still waiting for some presenters to come with packages. Tomorrow would be madness. But it's great helping people and making their Christmas better.

My list of books I've read is growing ang growing. I already reached 180 since January 1, 2008 - I don't know how I do it. I just read books everywhere - at home, in a bus, in a tram, waiting in a queue. On Friday I won Roberto Savion's book Gomorra. I haven't started reading it yet. I'm wiyh my nose in Vladmir Sorokin's Bro and 23000. I wanted to win The Kindly Ones (Les Bienveillantes), but I didn't succed. I tried to read Marcel Proust's In a search of lost time, but I went through only first four volumes.

Tomorrow I'm going to the Police Regional Headquarters for a test. Keep fingers crossed. Yesterday my sister called Mark my boyfriend. I didn't want to quarell with her, cause it was around midnight and any of my explainations wouldn't bring the right effect. Me and Mark are close friends. It was never said between us that we're a couple and I never ever thought like that. At least I know he doeasn't have a girlfriend that could be chasing me or himto hurt any of us. I think that right now he's really my friend, cause I drew away from rest of guys I met at the University. Probably because of that the subjects to talk about ended. How long you can talk about school stuff. With Mark I can talk about books or music I like (i never liked techno or similiar - I would rather listen to classical music than something which sounds like a jackhammer).

On Saturday I'm busy with Virtous Package. In November I poll 6 very poor families and now I'm responsible for 4 of them and all four will get packages for Christmas (things like food, clothes, shoes, cleansers). There were people who made the packages for those families and on Saturday all stuff should be brought to a special warehouse in a school. Then I'm going to the families wiyh the packages.
